I remember how Grandma Hellard loved to laugh. She would come and stay with us and sleep with us girls. She would tell tongue twisters and get us to try to repeat them! She would laugh and laugh.

Ruth that is my sister Sylvia in top roll last one on end thank you so much for putting this on here

Tony, I remember most of these with the names already written on the picture. The 1st row: 1st person ? ( If she is the teacher, it might be Marlene Lakes Webb. If she is a student it might be Faye Boggs.) Next is Doug Moore, unknown Girl, Unknown Boy (?The name Richard Parks comes to mind.) Jean Gilbert, Jerry B. Gilbert, Sylvia Sizemore. 2nd Row: Edgar Eversole, ? Maybe Connie Gambill, Shirley Muncy Huff, Unknown Boy. 3rd Row: Fannie Morgan Ward, Unknown Boy, Unknown Girl, Unknown Boy, Nel Robinson, Unknown Boy, Maybe Chester Gilliam, Unknown Girl, Maybe Norma Jean Gambill or Bobbie Riley Wilson . 4th Row: Unknown Girl, Jimmy Hughes, Lowanna Davis, Unknown Girl. The ones that had the names or last names I could recognize, and a few others looked familiar, but I'm not sure if the names I listed as "maybe" are right at all. Does your sister, Lowanna, know the names of any of the unknowns? Look at their wonderful smiles! Don't they all look like such wholesome, happy, and well-adjusted children!!!

Thanks. Yes they should be happy, those were good years in our country, and they were in a great in a great country.

Lucille, I thought the one you listed as Norma Jean was Connie Gambill. I was right about Chester Gilliam, though. His family lived here on the property we own now. He and his brothers names all rhymed: Lester, Chester, and Sylvester. They all liked to sing and play music. They had all kinds of musical instruments.
August 6, 2012 at 12:30 am
LOL, that is an interesting fact to remember, Rhyming names.
August 6, 2012 at 12:33 am
Could the girl in the 1st row after Doug Moore be Mary Jo McCowan? I was only in 1st grade at the time so these are hard for me to remember.
August 6, 2012 at 12:34 am
I was directing this question to Lucille Robinson.
August 6, 2012 at 12:36 am
It was 3-4 years before I was born. (I don't get to say that about many things anymore. LOL
August 6, 2012 at 12:36 am
Sorry, didn't mean to butt in.
August 6, 2012 at 12:38 am
Oh, my goodness! I didn't mean to sound like a smart aleck. I didn't even see your comment. I just added that to clarify! LOL...
August 6, 2012 at 12:40 am
......About the girl I thought might be Mary Jo McCowan....
August 6, 2012 at 12:43 am
OK, let me must dry these tears, and get back to working. LOL I was must kidding, It was such a easy one, and the Davis humor in me just rushes to such occasions. LOL
August 6, 2012 at 12:45 am
Not "Must" kidding but 'just'
August 6, 2012 at 12:46 am
I was a bossy teacher for too long! LOL....I think I've said more than enough now, and Lucille has probably gone to bed anyway....where I shall go soon. I have had a great time with these photos....Talk about a trip down memory lane.

I hope you can come to the Davis reunion in September, I hope to make it. It is there in Jackson County. You may not be a Davis, but you would be welcome. Well Good night.
August 6, 2012 at 12:53 am
Well, thanks for the invitation. Maybe I can come. I have looked at so many of their pictures now that it seems like I already know most of them. Good night.
August 6, 2012 at 12:56 am
Fannie Morgan could probably name them all. The third row, last girl is definitely Bobbie Riley.
August 6, 2012 at 8:15 am
Tony, Peggy is right about it being Connie, instead of Norma. Norma passed away last year, but Connie is alive and well. Thank you for the pic, I will pass it on.
August 6, 2012 at 10:09 am
Tucker, I couldn't forget Connie! Once when I got my new saddle oxford shoes, back in the fifties, I can remember her singing a little song that went something like this, "Peggy Lou's got new shoes!" I'm sure I had a poodle skirt to go with them!
