August 1, 2012 at 8:52 am
Leona: This is in front of Davis Grocery. The 2 story building on the right was Tom and Nola Bevin's place of business - also served as a law office and Dr Pigman's office in later years.
August 1, 2012 at 9:14 am
Just to show the tractor, and see if anyone can Identify the kids. Please give me all the help you can.
July 23, 2012 at 3:52 pm
In the center, the tall one is J. H. Morgan and to his left is Minty, my grandparents.
July 23, 2012 at 4:20 pm
First time i have a picture of the tractor.
July 23, 2012 at 4:22 pm
Some guesses: Boy below Homer - Billy Ray Davis, Tip Gaines not Bill Phillips, Ernest in Edith's arms, Two little girls in white : Mae and Tip's daughters - Just guesses !
July 23, 2012 at 5:01 pm
Tip Gaines not in that picture. That is Bill Phelps on tractor holding little girl. also the woman between Edith and Homer looks like Aunt Sophie.
July 23, 2012 at 7:21 pm
Wow, I Think I am going to stick by the Bill Phillips. I had pulled another photo and compared, and they were too much alike. Lol
July 23, 2012 at 7:23 pm
The people are standing in the road in front of the old crib that still exists today. I thought the woman on the right of the tall man was Emma. Uncle Jemsey and Aunt Minty only lived a few miles away. I had not thought about them being in the picture.
July 23, 2012 at 7:36 pm
Ruth Combs not sure about whether that's G.pa and G.ma??? It could pass for G. pa but ??.
July 23, 2012 at 9:15 pm
The woman looked like Mamaw Ellen. I guessed Emma. Who is the woman in the front row, on the right of Edith?
July 24, 2012 at 7:57 am
I am almost positive it is Sophia. Especially with Bill back on the tractor.
July 24, 2012 at 8:10 am
I am referring to the one labeled as Mae,
July 24, 2012 at 8:12 am
I'm thinking thats a old county road grader, too big for a farm tractor. It has Auto written on the push and pull bar..
July 24, 2012 at 12:37 pm
I like Steve's idea best of all!! It is too big for tractor!!They were probably working on the road by their house and everyone had to go see it!!
July 24, 2012 at 2:31 pm
They must have been there a while. I have several photos of different groups of people on that equipment, Whatever it is.
July 24, 2012 at 2:49 pm
How is Bill Phillips related - I have seen him in several photos - or folks with that label ?
July 24, 2012 at 4:53 pm
He was Sophie's first husband.
July 24, 2012 at 6:36 pm
Terry - did they have any kids - I have seen Sophie with her three daughters.
July 24, 2012 at 8:03 pm

They are wonderful.
July 20, 2012 at 1:30 am
We love the picture with C. J. Thank you very much for the work or art.
July 20, 2012 at 8:03 am
It is always fun when you are able to swoop in and save the day!!!! I am ready to leave, and it has been an extremely productive day. I was off one day (most of it anyway) for medical test, and, when I returned it seemed as if every thing was broken. When I arrived they were waiting by the door to see if it could be fixed. Within about 20 minutes, it was back and working fine. I have spent the rest of the day cleaning up issues and putting safeguards in place to prevent "helpful" people from making changes. LOL Kind of makes you feel like Superman.
July 18, 2012 at 6:26 pm
thats great
July 18, 2012 at 6:45 pm
Bahahahahaha
July 18, 2012 at 7:04 pm

July 18, 2012 at 7:14 pm
It's great to be needed, huh Tony?
July 18, 2012 at 7:16 pm
LOL and some days I feel like Barney Fife.
July 18, 2012 at 7:19 pm
Remember Mighty Mouse? He was good at saving the day, too!
July 18, 2012 at 7:21 pm
So funny, but he was my favorite. LOL
July 18, 2012 at 7:22 pm
Yes, mine, too. Cartoon day used to be special. Now kids get to watch them every day, all day long. Sounds to me like you, Mr Superman, need to get a promotion or at least ask for a raise!
July 18, 2012 at 7:29 pm
LOL, glad to be getting a check. I was just talking to someone the other day about Saturday am.
July 18, 2012 at 7:52 pm

July 11, 2012 at 4:08 pm
Can't help but wonder why they put me on there??? The pitcure rotates, so this is one of 6 total. It just caught me off guard when I saw it the first time. LOL
July 11, 2012 at 4:23 pm
Are you sure these are not thair Used Car Sales people.
July 11, 2012 at 4:54 pm
Yeah, cause I would have starved if I had to rely on selling cars. It seems that the moment I get a car, it is only worth half what I paid.
July 11, 2012 at 5:01 pm
C.J. took this photo when she was in Kentucky. It is not clear who owned the Peacocks, but according to Jason Davis, they knew who C.J. was and that she was my little girl. LOL
June 30, 2012 at 12:59 pm
Ross Murray are these your peacocks?
June 30, 2012 at 1:53 pm
Actually it is a conspiracy. We're watching you. More accurately Jason said that some of his cousins were in and that they wanting pictures of the peacocks and some feathers and I had noted on your Facebook status that you were coming home to Kentucky. So while looking at your daughter, I said "Is that Tony Davis' daughter?"
June 30, 2012 at 1:53 pm
They belong to my Dad and stepmother. There are a lot of them. Noisy annoying birds they are. Pretty and exotic if you have under 5. Annoying if there are 100. LOL.
June 30, 2012 at 1:54 pm
Oh, that's funny. I thought it may have been you. He came back and said "you're famous" everyone knows you. I told him that I had met some people on facebook. The funny part it wasn't the first surpris. There was someone else he had asked about before he went over to your place. LOL Thank you so much. C.J. now wants to move to Jackson county and raise Peacocks. She would leave today if she could.
June 30, 2012 at 1:58 pm
I must say that I am working through the photos, and this is one struck me. i was taken above Wesley morgan's house on moores Creek. Many of my friends will recognize the red barns.
June 28, 2012 at 9:40 pm
Wesley married my aunt Della, they both are wonderful people!
June 28, 2012 at 10:19 pm
You are so right Carl about those folks!
June 30, 2012 at 3:08 pm
never saw that view before,
July 14, 2012 at 8:07 pm
You must have gone to Don's cabin.
July 15, 2012 at 8:30 am
A friend of mine posted this, and after looking at it, I was sure My brother Wendell Davis must have designed this! It looks like his handy work. When we were growing up, he would have had me convenced to ride it all over the neighborhood, and he and Wayne would have been collecting.
June 21, 2012 at 8:04 am
My Father's day present was to be able to give CJ a bicycle. She seems to love it. I am happy just watching. I tried to ride it, and two girls had a Cardiac event trying to protect me from myself. We are going to have to work on balance. My Father had a heart attack, and was so afaid to do anything again, that he never really recovered. I don't want to over do it, but I don't want to deteriorate either. I must admit it would be easy to sit down and let everyone wait on me until they were sick of it. But then it would be difficult to get going again. I am hoping to find the balance that will lead to full recovery (without creating a Cardiac event for others).
June 17, 2012 at 6:09 pm
My grandfather (my stepdad's father) had a heart attack early in his life. That motivated him to go to "therapy" every morning to work out and keep himself in better shape. He is almost 90 now. Praying that you find the balance. Just don't rush it! Those girls almost lost you. I'd be overprotective too. :)
June 17, 2012 at 10:19 pm
I go to church with three people who had open heart surgery and they are doing really well...just don't overdo yourself...learn to work smarter not harder!! Remember the long run!! You'll be great for many more years!!
June 17, 2012 at 10:55 pm
I love my girls, and I want to see the little one graduate high school (and this time not via video in a hospital room). LOL
June 17, 2012 at 11:25 pm
Thanks Melanie Vaughn ... I appreciate it. I hope you don't mind that I copied enlarged and cropped. I kind of use Facebook as a photo album. You do know that you can down load your page and view in offline like a web page.

June 7, 2012 at 11:02 pm
When your day starts like this, then you arrive to the office and the eMail spamfilter has crashed blockinng all email traffic, and the vendor will call you back when they get around to it. Meanwhile the users are not happy and are standing at your door. Those are the Days you LONG to retire back in the Kentucky Mountains, and hide out like the Hatfields. Alas not to be.... I'll probably just rust away here in DC like an abandoned car beside a creek. LOL :~(
May 31, 2012 at 1:01 pm
A long long time ago and far far away. There was a young man in the Army.

May 29, 2012 at 7:45 pm
How do you like that Mud. I spent a lot of time in the Mud. That 4 year tour, I spent 2 years in the field. We went to the Field 2weeks out of every 4 weeks in the woods. Some good some very cold.
May 29, 2012 at 7:47 pm
More digging and I have found more ancesters, My newest Oldest picture this is my 12th Great Grandfather --- Sir Henry Sidney (1529 - 5 May 1586), lord deputy of Ireland, was the eldest son of Sir William Sidney of Penshurst, a prominent politician and courtier during the reigns of Henry VIII and Edward VI, from both of whom he received extensive grants of land, including the manor of Penshurst in Kent, which became the principal residence of the family. Henry Sidney was brought up at court as the companion of Prince Edward, afterwards King Edward VI, and he continued to enjoy the favour of the Crown, particularly throughout the reign of Queen Elizabeth I.
May 26, 2012 at 11:05 pm

May 25, 2012 at 12:01 am
Mary Sidney Herbert, the Countess of Pembroke, was a hot-tempered redhead, brilliant, multi-talented, strong, dynamic, passionate, generous, and probably a bit arrogant. There is a book about her. www.marysidney.com

It goes back through the davis side to John L. Davis, then it is his Wife "Justine Armilda Stansberry" tree on back. I listed the full linage in the comment just above Terry's comment.

I wish I could find this gas station.
May 4, 2012 at 5:19 pm
It's probably standing out there somewhere in a ghost town!!
May 4, 2012 at 6:33 pm
I searched for this place. I'm sure now that it's in El Dorado so I gave up and bought a Prius last month. Got 51.6 miles per gallon this morning on the trip to work.
May 9, 2012 at 4:01 pm
I'll still take 6 gallons for a dollar over 51.6 MPG. LOL But I would still like to get the 51.6 MPG. I only get about 30 when the traffic is good.
May 9, 2012 at 4:10 pm
If those 2.7-3 billion Chinese and Indians would just stop buying cars gas would be cheap. Can you imagine how expensive everything will be when we reach 10 Billion people on this little bitty planet?
May 9, 2012 at 4:26 pm
You might have to take a DeLorean back in time to find that.
May 9, 2012 at 4:33 pm
Mary Louise Smith, I think you know this little girl.
April 25, 2012 at 9:30 pm

April 25, 2012 at 9:45 pm
Was this Naomi Reed.
April 26, 2012 at 8:34 am
no Gabbard, It was Samantha Reed her sister.
April 26, 2012 at 8:00 pm
Ho, Ok. I should have known that.
April 26, 2012 at 8:52 pm
Naomi's sister, Samantha Morris Reed, and her husband, Oscar Reed, were living in the house with her parents, Lile and Nacy Morris, when my parents bought the farm from them in 1952. Naomi and Delbert would come back every few years or so to visit. It was her homeplace, and she was my dad, Bob Hacker's first cousin.
May 4, 2012 at 8:11 pm
Several years ago I visited Naomi at her home near Florence, Kentucky. But now that has been quiet a long time now hat I think about it. Probably 30 years or better. Time gets away from us sometimes.

My Daddy in uniform back in 1944.
April 22, 2012 at 8:35 pm
Ah, I always wondered which division he served in. I'm very curious for more information about his time in service.
And also, looking quite handsome back then. Both sides of my family look good in uniform. :)

20 Years ago today, I married the woman that God made for me. I can hardly believe it has been 20 years, but she assures me that it is true. It is just ao natural that we are together, and it has not been an effort. I cannot (do not want to) imagine the past 20 years without her. Cynthia, I love you more today (if it is possible) than I did the day we married. Thank you for all you do for me (and CJ too).

Daddy daughter work day. The whole office loved her. The President /CEO came by and shook her hand. C.J. knew his name and addressed him by name, and he was impressed. The office below ours was trying to get her to do an internship. We both had a good time.

April 2, 2012 at 7:59 pm
Cindy has an appoinment tomorrow to hat the Bulky dressings removed, and checked. The surgeon made an exception and agreed to performed the surgery at the Army facility. Normally we would have been sent to the local hospital (where I used to work). It would have cost us thousands in co-pay. But because it was done in the Army facility, there is no co-pay. I made him this pen as a small token of appreciation.
March 28, 2012 at 10:59 pm

March 15, 2012 at 9:00 pm
I had to share this one. Made me smile this morning!
March 16, 2012 at 7:26 am
A while back Cynthia told me she wanted to replace the living room TV, and put it in our bedroom. It seems that the multiple remote requirement, along with the complexity of the multiple configurations had become annoying. As everyone knows I want to keep Momma happy. So I finally found the deal and the TV I thought was best. LG 60" HD TV. Now the biggest challenge is getting it on the wall. The brackets are mounted, but I can't lift it in place. So maybe tomorrow I can get some friends over to get this beast on the wall. LOL
March 11, 2012 at 12:16 am
A few years from now, how are you going to get the 100" Retina TV in place?
March 11, 2012 at 6:32 am
Doesn't look like u have enuff space, so just go get a smaller one and send that on to me :-)
March 11, 2012 at 12:03 pm
Yeah... That'll happen. Just wait by the mailbox. LOL
March 11, 2012 at 6:03 pm
Just make sure u send it fed ex, I don't use ups unless I hate the person I'm sending stuff to. That's why I call ups (u = useless p = poop s = stain) useless poop stain what can brown do for you? Lmbo!
March 11, 2012 at 7:46 pm
LOL.... Yeah... Just wait by the door, and I'm sure you'll get it. LOL
March 11, 2012 at 8:39 pm

April 12, 2012 at 8:58 pm
On Grandpa (Bob) Davis' headstone there was another name besides Bessie. It has puzzled me for some time. I had never heard anything about another wife. The Name was Levina, but no other clues. I have finly found her, and her family. I even have a photo. Here it is.
February 14, 2012 at 10:50 pm
Tony, I am so surprised that you didn't know about Levina. Everybody called her Lou. I don't know why. Perhaps that was her middle name. She died shortly after giving birth to their first child and the baby died shortly thereafter as I recall the story. Although Granddad loved Bessie, I think Lou was his first true love and he never forgot her.
February 14, 2012 at 11:16 pm
She was a few years older than him. Her family refered to her as Vinnie, that made it a bit more difficult to ID her.
February 14, 2012 at 11:18 pm
Glad you found this picture Tony. I knew of her but not the whole story - You and Dorsey have cleared it up for me ! Thanks again
February 15, 2012 at 12:52 am
Tony. Mom has a large picture of grandpaw and Lou she kept hanging on the wall for years. I don't know who has that picture now though. The picture was made after lou died. Grandpaw had someone to take her picture and put it with his. Looked like a poitrid of them together. Joyce may have that picture, Not sure.
February 15, 2012 at 7:23 pm
We have a picture here somewhere of Grandpaw at the grave site where Lou was being burried. Grandpaw is setting behind the casket.
February 15, 2012 at 7:24 pm
Tony, Bob Hacker (Bessie Davis' nephew) was my father who raised me, but my biological father was Bob York. His mother was Lillie Casteel, daughter of Elias Casteel. I wonder if these Casteels are some of my biological father's family. I also wonder if Elias and William might have been brothers. Your photos are so great! What is your connection to Bessie Davis?
April 23, 2012 at 10:29 pm
She is my Grandmother.
April 23, 2012 at 10:33 pm
That's what I was thinking. So are you Calvin's son? Joyce Davis is a daughter of his that I went to school with at Moores Creek.
April 23, 2012 at 10:50 pm
Yes she is my sister. My daughter also named after he. Cynthia Joyce Davis, we call her C.J.
April 23, 2012 at 10:52 pm
In my distant memory, she was a very sweet girl. Your dad, Calvin, and Bob Hacker, my dad who raised me as his child, were first cousins.
April 23, 2012 at 10:55 pm
I think I have some Hacker photos coming in the next batch.
April 23, 2012 at 10:56 pm
I'll be sure to look for them. Your mom, or someone really took good care of all these photos. I don't know who got it in our family, but Ma Hacker, had a picture of Bessie's parents, Jim and Sophie Steel, in an oval frame with the curved glass. I saw one that you or Terry Gaines had posted with him sitting and her standing. Thanks for sharing all of the pictures.
April 23, 2012 at 11:02 pm
Peggy, mine and Tony's grandmother, Bessie Steele Davis had a sister by the name of Ellen Hacker. Is it possible that your grandfather was married to Ellen, or was a brother of Ellen's husband?
April 23, 2012 at 11:11 pm
Aunt Ellen Hacker, as we called her, lived on Pond Creek near my grandmother and grandfather just up the road from Tom Coffey's grocery store.
April 23, 2012 at 11:13 pm
Dorsey, that was my grandmother, but not my biological grandmother. Her son, Bob Hacker, raised me as his child. (It's confusing, because my biological father's mother was a Casteel, and I got interested in this photo for that reason.) We went to Ellen's (We called her Ma Hacker) almost every Sunday. I rambled all up and down that little road with my Hacker cousins and some of the Davis grandkids, too (Glenna Gaines was one that stands out in my memory.) I remember Bob and the rabbits and Bessie with the crippling arthritis in her hands. I remember Ernest (Wes and Edith's son) seineing for minnows in the little creek, and the game warden was about to arrest him for not having a fishing license or maybe it was illegal to seine. Tons of memories......
April 23, 2012 at 11:26 pm
Great Uncle John dated Polly Casteel. Tony I am glad you shared this picture of their family. My neighbor that lived to be 98 told me that the Casteels lived at the top of the Johnson Hill. Some know it as where Minnie Davis lived, now the Lakes family own it. It is not far from the Green Hill Cemetery.
May 12, 2012 at 10:35 am
I think Mary Casteel might have been the daughter of Old Wiley Morris who built the house where I was raised. I remember my mom talking about her coming back to visit her homeplace. If this is the woman she was referring to, she would have been Nacy Morris' sister. Nacy was Delilah "Lile" Steele Morris' husband.
May 12, 2012 at 5:07 pm
LOL
February 14, 2012 at 2:32 pm

This is the Brother of Dr George Washington Cook, (father of Telitha Jane Cook that was married to John Wesley Davis. (If I get you that close, you can figure out where you are in the tree...). Is that better Melinda ?
February 13, 2012 at 7:29 pm
I still can't figure out how to download it.
February 13, 2012 at 8:16 pm
Got it now, Thanks Tony. I just love this picture.
February 13, 2012 at 8:49 pm

Making progress on the sound board caninet project. I am now ready to start to do the inside setup adding power and storage drawers.
February 5, 2012 at 11:20 pm
Latest Project, I'm making a console to hold the sound board for our church. I am going to mount a computer so we can play music, DVD's and control the projectors. I have a ways to go, but it is starting to come together.

February 4, 2012 at 11:02 pm
GOOD JOB TONY!!! ITS GONNA BE BEAUTIFUL WHEH ALL SET UP.....
February 4, 2012 at 11:06 pm
I like how the wood is 2 different colors like that too, that looks REALLY good! GOOD job to you from me too (and me and my dad also occasionally make furniture as well and that looks like good quality work...and we also have some of those clamps too...they sure are a bear to get used to but once you do, they're great for REALLY holding stuff right? :)
February 4, 2012 at 11:30 pm
@ Tharon - Yes they are great clamps, I have a set of each of the different sizes, and I use them all the time. The two different colors is actually because I stained the panels before I installed them, because it is difficult to get them stained properly acter they are installed. I plan to stain the rest the same color as the panels. Although you do have me thinking about it now.
February 4, 2012 at 11:56 pm
Welll...don't despair about it because since you've let the panels dry out with the stain, when you do stain the rest of it, the panels will probably end up being darker than the stiles in between the panels because you didn't stain them all at the same time. If you did like the way it looked like this, you might be able to tape the outside edges of the panels, then paint the rest of it with the white paint I've seen on communion tables in all the churches I've went to...? But if you did want to try that, you might want to take stainless steel wool and lightly sand down the already stained panels, then put a coat of clear polyurethane on just the panels, then lightly sand that down with the steel wool, then coat them again with polyurethane?
February 5, 2012 at 12:16 am
And as for the clamps, we just have the one larger size like you've got on it now, and I remember at the beginning when we first got them how everytime I'd try to turn them over, they'd slide down and pinch the webbing in between my fingers too! Oww.
February 5, 2012 at 12:18 am

February 4, 2012 at 11:15 pm
Thinking about you today. I miss you so much. My main regret about all the years I spent in the military was that I wasn't able to spend more time with you. What amazing man you were, and I understand you so much better today than I did when I was young. I Love you Dad.
January 29, 2012 at 2:45 pm
Tony, I still remember the good old days at Camden Church of God, and I do remember your Father, and he was a good man, As well as your mother. They both were good people. It is good to see someone from long ago past, take care.
January 29, 2012 at 3:42 pm
I miss my pappaw! It crushed my world when he passed. He was 1/2 of my rock that kept me grounded. He and mammaw were the only constant thing in my life that I felt I could count on and they were my safe zone. I am who I am today because of them both. I might have been a dyin youngun but I was his dyin grandyoungun and I hope every day I make him proud down here. I love and mis you pappaw! Thanks uncle T for makin me cry, I love the pic!
January 29, 2012 at 4:18 pm
Yes Jason I really understand what you are saying.
January 29, 2012 at 7:28 pm
Great Grief! my grief is still great...
January 30, 2012 at 9:40 am
Yes, we all have experienced grief over the death of our dads. Daddy was only 45, but a precious christian man. We are so blessed to have wonderful praying, believing mothers to hold us up in prayer. Mom (Ethel) prays for each of her family members individually daily. I am sure that Thelma does too. What a heritage we have to pass along to our families!! Mom is the glue that holds this family together. Bet Thelma is too!
February 4, 2012 at 1:31 am
Mom was cut from the same fabric as Ethel. I remember the day your father passed too. I loved him so much. He was a lot like my dad. It hurt when Elmer passed, but I never understood your pain until my father passed.
February 4, 2012 at 9:24 pm
I love this Photo, and that was the best Dog I ever knew.
January 26, 2012 at 10:49 pm
Rover, was a great dog. Your Aunt Edith's Muncy family gave him to my grandparents. The dog in the picture with pretty baby Amelia looks him.
January 30, 2012 at 9:46 pm

April 29, 2012 at 1:43 pm
Today's Project: Cindy needed something for a going away for one of her employees, and so I made this plaque, and engraved an old peice of Aluminum I had laying around the shop. It took a bit of polishing, but it came out nice. The wood is from old scraps from the sawmill. I love to recycle... I might have $1.00 in it (electric and Spray finish for the wood).
January 24, 2012 at 12:29 am
NICE!!
February 4, 2012 at 11:02 am

January 2, 2012 at 6:57 pm

I don't think so. The only other Cook that I know is a Doctor is "Green Cook"
January 2, 2012 at 9:24 pm
Wasn't George Cook the doctor that lived in Jackson County?
January 2, 2012 at 9:36 pm
I don't know. This person's father was also George W. Cook, and he was a Doctor. It would not surprise me if this GW was also a doctor.
January 2, 2012 at 10:05 pm
Doctor Cook was what was called a herb doctor.
January 3, 2012 at 8:21 pm
Is that why Kentucky's number one cash crop is used for pain relief for Cancer? LOL
January 3, 2012 at 8:27 pm
@ Terry...was he really or are you joking?
January 3, 2012 at 8:29 pm
That is what I was told years ago. There was no doctors like we have today, He was the closest thing to a doctor they had at the time. A lot of his medicine the doctors would laugh at now, but they worked.
January 3, 2012 at 8:39 pm
If I remember correctly, he was my grandparents neighbors...delivered my dad. He was the last baby that Doc delivered.

Yes you are correct, It was a typo, the date is also on the side of the photo. I did see the Veil when I was doing the touch up, and at first I thought it was a fingerprint at first, but when I zoomed in, I saw it was a veil. But being a man, it didn't register. LOL

Working on the family tree, Need help. I need to know the names of the family members of my generation and after. I have some, but I am finding I don't know most, and have met some on facebook by stumbling into them and asking if we are related. Kind of embarrassing (but not enough to stop me). I met two of Dorsey's nieces that way. Anyone that is willing to help me, I'll make sure you get an updated copy. I have our tree back to England, Germany and France in the 1600's.
December 8, 2011 at 12:35 am

December 2, 2011 at 10:00 am
I'm still trying to figure out why they titled this "Why men shouldn't write advice columns" It sounds loke good advice to me. LOL Address the real problem, the other one is a no brainer.
November 29, 2011 at 11:50 pm
That is classic of a man, 1 he tried to fix her car problem, 2 he kept to the guy code and didn't sell out his fellow capadre even though he was definately in the wrong 3 he didn't get involved in something that wasn't his business, 4 he done it all while not lieng being logical and sticking to the facts all while using a perfectly flawless avoidance technique to avert further discussion on a subject that the woman should have clearly dumped on her girlfreinds or a therapist who I qualified and gets paid to hve to listen to her whinning! Lmbo!
November 30, 2011 at 4:26 pm
Sound advice but he should know she could never understand all that he had told her. Should have just told her to get the car towed to a compitent repair shop.
November 30, 2011 at 7:27 pm
HAHAHAHA!
November 30, 2011 at 8:43 pm
It was resolved!!! No more flag. :~}
November 23, 2011 at 7:40 pm
Today the old homeless veteran that they ran out of the park told me... "You See, I told you it wouldn't be there in the morning. According to him, the police that "arrested" him and took him away from the site, took him across town and bought him supper. Then released him to his own recognizance. He was smiling as he told the story, and I kind of believe him.
November 29, 2011 at 1:02 am
that is the awesome!!!
November 29, 2011 at 1:19 am
Ethical dilemma, is a complex situation that will often involve an apparent mental conflict between moral imperatives, in which to obey one would result in transgressing another. In this case the fact I spent years defending their right to free speach (no matter how much I dislike what or how they are saying it) and the desire to properly dispose of a flag that has been allowed to touch the ground (which is by Fire). I am not for greed, but this was the end of any sympathy I had for their confused cause.
November 22, 2011 at 7:53 pm
This is shameful. Breaks my heart.
November 22, 2011 at 8:20 pm
This picture says it all.
November 22, 2011 at 8:20 pm
That is a terrible thing to see. But don't judge everyone based on one idiot.
November 22, 2011 at 8:37 pm
You judge a tree by the fruit it bears.
November 22, 2011 at 8:47 pm
Terry I dont think this is a fruit tree more of a nut tree
November 22, 2011 at 9:25 pm
@Ken - My instinct would be to distroy it in place, but I have to refrain and restrain my instincts. The fact that they are surrounded by police also plays into my decision to restrain. LOL
November 22, 2011 at 10:49 pm
i under stand the restrainment.. but it breaks my heart
November 22, 2011 at 10:54 pm
Ill bring the gas
November 22, 2011 at 11:54 pm

November 23, 2011 at 8:37 am
They should at least be picked on, and at all hours of the night.
November 23, 2011 at 10:43 am
The Issue is resolved.... LOL .. I think they may have gotten the message. Nuff Said. :~}
November 23, 2011 at 7:27 pm
Still think a good horse whipping would have been in order.
November 23, 2011 at 7:34 pm
Who said that it didn't happen????
November 23, 2011 at 7:38 pm
Remember, these guys don't kick anyone out for their whacky beliefs. There's UFO Cultists, Chemtrail whackjobs and all manner of unrelated weirdos there along with them. I still agree with their central point about our incestuous political-business relationship, AND I think this was a horrible thing to do.
I agree with what Norman Thomas said, "If you want a symbolic gesture, don't burn the flag; wash it." Likewise, don't write on it or flip it upside down or drag it in the mud... show it the highest respect, and then demand the same from the so-called leaders.

November 23, 2011 at 9:39 pm
I think their message is long lost. I hate the big banks, and understand that concept. But in the weeks I have observed the protesters, the message has primarily been anything but what the media is reporting. Your idealistic view is not the reality on the ground here in DC. I can show you photos and video of the signs and messages, and most have nothing to do with Wallstreet. You are a smart kid, but I can't help but think that your desire for them to express the right message has colored your preception of who they are. I Love you son, but they are not what you think they are.
November 23, 2011 at 10:47 pm
I'm the kid of some mighty brave folks who put in a good helping of service under that flag, and I'll never forget that.
I guess there'll have to be a different movement for hopeful people who want positive reforms that honor our country and includes much more sane people from all sides just tired of everything getting bought before the rest of us can even see the voting booth.
We'll just have to wash out mouths clean of this one first, I think.

November 24, 2011 at 3:49 am
I fully understand the desire for Hope, and the dispire felt when one looks at how the "System" has become so corrupt. They have managed to convince most people that the other party is the problem. The fact is that the Greed in the pol;tical system has sold out, and given the control to the highest bidder. It will not be resolved until people see that the source of the problem is not the beneficiary of the corruption, but of the source of the corruption. That being the ones that sold them the ability. That is not to absolve the actions of the actions of those thattake advantage, just to point out that they are ony the symtom or result of the real problem. If anything is to be done, we need to focus on the real problem and not the symtom.
November 24, 2011 at 8:39 am
As ththe new quizing year begins... My little C.J. took Gold in the individual, and the team took 3rd overall. As usual, I'm proud of her yada.. yada... yada... I know I am always bragging on her, but that's what daddys do. :~)
November 12, 2011 at 8:29 pm
Yes, and you have 3 very fine kids too. I would say you have to be proud too. And rightly so.
November 12, 2011 at 9:12 pm
Every time she wins one, just remember what I said when she was born:
"She's gonna be smarter than all of us."
"She's gonna be smarter than all of us."
November 12, 2011 at 9:14 pm
That and "We're gonna have to call her CJ."
November 12, 2011 at 9:14 pm
I have the smartest niece in the world, love you CJ!
November 12, 2011 at 9:59 pm
What was her first word???
November 12, 2011 at 10:29 pm
Daddy
November 12, 2011 at 10:56 pm
I lost the betting pool on that one. I thought it would've been something relating to a Pixar movie, given how much we watched them.
November 12, 2011 at 11:02 pm
Her first sentence was "Figure it out!" in response to her Mom's question.
November 12, 2011 at 11:06 pm
GO C.J........TONY WE MISSED YOU. Get ur schedule clear for the next one
November 13, 2011 at 8:45 am
Today at the park. Protestors and Police at odds. There is sign of something foul in the air. Do you see it?
November 8, 2011 at 9:27 pm
Is it the yellow tint to the air above the park?
November 8, 2011 at 9:29 pm
ROLF.... Close but not quite what I meant. LOL
November 8, 2011 at 9:39 pm
I give up.
November 8, 2011 at 9:46 pm
Key word is Sign...
November 8, 2011 at 9:47 pm
PEDO? Is that like the foul smell of PEE and DOO in the air?
November 8, 2011 at 9:52 pm
My daughter just told me that Pedo in Spanish means "fart". I get it now. LOL
November 8, 2011 at 9:53 pm
I think We have a weiner...Uh... Winner. It may be Spanish for passing gas.
November 8, 2011 at 9:55 pm
That accounts for the yellow tint to the air above the park. My wife was the one that noticed the sign. She speaks spanish.
November 8, 2011 at 10:00 pm
i noticed the sign first but do not speak Spanish. Ewww!!
November 8, 2011 at 10:14 pm
Kim... your comment made me laugh so hard that i lost my breath. It seemed to tie in so well.
November 8, 2011 at 10:23 pm
Glad to give your a cleansing laugh after passing through the pedo air!
November 8, 2011 at 10:27 pm
Thanks, I can count on my friends from back home to keep this place in perspective.

November 3, 2011 at 7:02 pm
Too funny Tony. Where did you ever find that one?
November 3, 2011 at 10:30 pm
Like most... I snaged it from a friend's post. LOL
November 4, 2011 at 8:14 am
Late night again. Lots to do, and already accomplished more than I had hoped. I will get outta here soon. Just a few more things to tie up. This is the best time to work... Most people have gone home, except the die-hards that won't bother me because they are trying to get stuff done too. During the day people come by and say useless stuff like "Gee you have a lot of monitors" or "can you really use all those computers?" I try to smile as I pay the minimum obligatory attention, and give a little nod. It always seems a lot of people have too much free time at work. Here is a quick peek at my desk now that I have it cleaned up.
November 2, 2011 at 8:30 pm
Just ran out of coffee. Time to go!
November 2, 2011 at 8:53 pm
Can I have one of those laptop? :)
November 2, 2011 at 9:21 pm

November 2, 2011 at 9:24 pm
What tablet? Iono what you're talking about. :)
November 2, 2011 at 9:32 pm
Was thinking about you as I rounded the beltway towards home! Hope you are headed!
November 2, 2011 at 10:00 pm
Hue... CJ said that she would like the tablet if you have forgotten about it.
November 2, 2011 at 10:37 pm
Tell CJ that Hue said to tell her daddy that Hue would find the iPad and give it to her if her daddy upgrades Hue to an ipad2. :)
November 2, 2011 at 10:44 pm
Sure it sounds like a great deal. Go ahead and send C.J. the iPad, and wait for her dad to send you the new iPad-2. (And keep using the drugs that made you think that would happen.) LOL
November 2, 2011 at 10:51 pm
Can't argue with these rules.
October 31, 2011 at 7:41 pm
Moses just wasn't real good at wording things. This is how he meant to say it.
October 31, 2011 at 7:56 pm
Today in DC, I couldn't drive straight to the office because the place was full of people running the Marine Corps Marathon. So I had to drive around DC. I was reminded of how beautiful the city is on a clear weekend morning.
October 30, 2011 at 8:38 pm
Sure looks pretty to me.
October 31, 2011 at 7:58 pm

October 28, 2011 at 9:23 pm
Just finished lunch with Dell Computers, at Morton's "The Steak House". My largest problem this afternoon is staying awake after that big Filet Mignon, and trimings. I didn't have the Dessert, but it would have been the Double Chocolate Mousse..... It looked so good.
October 27, 2011 at 2:55 pm
Damn that looks good. Think I'll take a nap just thinking about it
October 27, 2011 at 7:09 pm

December 26, 2011 at 11:24 am
Tony's expression reminds me of Calvin.
December 26, 2011 at 12:45 pm
My friend and I using the tractor.
October 24, 2011 at 7:52 pm
You need to bring that tractor down to Alabama this spring so we can grow maters and such.
October 24, 2011 at 8:07 pm
That's cool. Let me drive that around your yard :)
October 24, 2011 at 10:04 pm
LOL, it would take a long time to clean up to that mess. You can do a lot of damage with a tractor.
October 25, 2011 at 8:48 am
The women took a break after their Bible study, so I built a fire for them and retreated to the workshop.
October 14, 2011 at 10:07 pm
Tell them to take a look at the bright "star" a few inches off the Moon's 2 o'clock position. Then tell them it's Jupiter. Minds blown. :)
(Though with how much Woodbridge has grown you might not be able to see it through the light pollution. But out here, the sky is clear.)

I just finished preparing 130 pencil box kits, so the Kids at CJ's school put them together tomorrow at the career day. Man it has been a lot of work. You can see the example on the top of all the kits. I hope they enjoy them.

What a sweet Dad you are the kids will love them.
October 10, 2011 at 7:14 am

I'm proud of her, and I'm praying for Ken. I understand if the thought of coming back to DC made him sick, but we really miss you guys and hope he gets well soon.
October 8, 2011 at 9:28 pm
Lovely!
October 8, 2011 at 9:33 pm
Very cute
October 9, 2011 at 1:26 pm
Hmmmm....Tony, I wonder if you might have something there. He's doing much better today, just worn out mostly. I'm letting him rest up so we can head north tomorrow. Gotta bloom where we're planted. :)
October 9, 2011 at 3:16 pm
I'm glad he feeling better, and We'll be glad to have you all back.
October 9, 2011 at 3:58 pm
So beautiful !!
December 30, 2011 at 11:41 pm
My boss requested this pen with a favorite verse engraved on it. It is made of Olive wood from Bethlehem. The bottom pen is just something I made playing around with wood scraps.
October 6, 2011 at 11:01 pm
gorgeous!
October 6, 2011 at 11:10 pm
I have one of those that someone had made for me because I am a writer. It is precious to me!
October 6, 2011 at 11:15 pm
I love making them. It is relaxing.
October 6, 2011 at 11:18 pm
It's really neat that you do that, Tony. I love the one I have. It was from someone that I don't know really well. His wife is a good friend from work and he read something that I had written and it touched him - so he went to all the trouble of having that done for me. I will never ever forget that!
October 6, 2011 at 11:21 pm
Really neat & special.
October 7, 2011 at 6:13 am
I love the bottom one, what an interesting pattern. Wow. Charles Bigelow
October 7, 2011 at 11:25 am
Should I out your name on it?
October 7, 2011 at 9:09 pm
Certainly
October 8, 2011 at 12:33 pm
Done!
October 8, 2011 at 6:33 pm
If only some of the drivers around here would learn to drive, and leave the phone in the purse/pocket, it would go a long way toward safer streets.
September 28, 2011 at 6:49 pm

Nice shirt. I need one.
September 11, 2011 at 2:02 pm
This is part of the tree I plan to bring to the davis reunion next month. I hope to fill in some blanks. I have the Davis linage back to England, and The service record for Cpt William Ransom Davis, who served as Captain of the Fifth Reigiment in SC during the American Revolution.
August 29, 2011 at 12:50 am
That's awesome. :)
August 29, 2011 at 12:55 am

August 27, 2011 at 12:44 am
When I left my building to go to the metro, traffic on the stree was a Gridlock. You had to weave between the cars to get across the street.
August 23, 2011 at 7:57 pm
Took me ever to get home..... hate to see what would happen if we had a real disaster!
August 23, 2011 at 8:06 pm
when did DC become Cali..... I am losing my interest in going out there, we have the traffic, draught, and now earthquakes....... next thing you know there will be gangs here. oh wait, there already is..... or our state will be broke, oh wait crap that happened too....... arghhh..... guess we are cali jr.....
August 23, 2011 at 10:30 pm
The new sink works, the garbage disposal works, and well CJ works too. LOL Now I have the walls (back splash), window trim, under cabinet lights, indirect lighting above the cabinets, etc. More fun...
August 22, 2011 at 9:06 pm
Well, it's a fail!!! I didn't make it to Lowes in time to get the last part I needed to make the drain for the sink work. I am thankful for friends like Doug that came over and worked with me to get the sink in and the water connected. Not to mention Charles that drove over an hour to help me get the counter top in place.
August 21, 2011 at 9:46 pm
Beautiful! A trip to the beach and new kitchen! What a blessed woman!
August 22, 2011 at 9:32 am
I have decited that the sink is too much trouble, so do you think my wife will miss it.
August 21, 2011 at 5:09 pm
Only if you want to eat from clean dishes.
August 21, 2011 at 5:10 pm
Is a bathroom close by?
August 21, 2011 at 9:11 pm
In a word.... yes!
August 22, 2011 at 12:19 pm
If you do a proper job of explaining about all the extra counter space and how nice it will be to finally have the space she needs, you just might pull it off.
August 22, 2011 at 6:36 pm
Went over like a lead ballon. I guess I'm not as slick as Terry. He would probably hade her thinking it was her idea. LOL
August 22, 2011 at 7:15 pm
It is all in the wording.
August 22, 2011 at 7:38 pm
Moving on toward the sink. Charles has arrived like the Calvery to help lift the counter top in place.
August 21, 2011 at 10:26 am
I have made a bit more progress. I did a lot that does not show. I had to wire a new switch and outlet for a Garbage disposal. Too many other tedious tasks to mention. I am one tired puppy. I miss the Girls (you don't have to tell them) I am going to call it a night.
August 20, 2011 at 11:01 pm
Once you're done over there, feel free to come on down here to Alabama to fix this place up. (Just kiddin'. :P)
August 20, 2011 at 11:33 pm

August 21, 2011 at 12:08 am

August 21, 2011 at 7:34 am
Wow you've accomplished a lot!
August 21, 2011 at 9:04 am
CJ has discovered the wonders of Duct Tape. For the past few days she has made herself a purse, and several other items. Her mom and Aunt didn't care for them and shared that with her. She was a bit hurt, but redirected her efforts to making me a wallet. Here it is. And if you think I won't use it, and even show it off to the fancy folks at my office... Well you don't know me.
August 17, 2011 at 9:58 pm
In 10 years, duct tape will be the high-end fashion statement and CJ will be the one making it happen. :D
August 17, 2011 at 10:01 pm
Tell CJ to keep up the good work. And the world would fall apart if not for duct tape
August 17, 2011 at 10:01 pm
In fact I think Shannon turned CJ on to the wonders of Duct tape. In the Army we called it 90 MPH tape. Meaning it would hold it on the vehicle up to 90 MPH. In the 70's most of our Military vehicles were held together with 90 MPH tape. LOL
August 17, 2011 at 10:07 pm
LOVE IT!!! She is definitley a mini-you! Can we say creative spirit?
August 17, 2011 at 10:20 pm
You're a good daddy.
August 17, 2011 at 10:25 pm
My kids were showing me all the colors that it comes in now, who would have thought
August 17, 2011 at 10:47 pm
You should get her all the colors. That way she can make her own toys.
August 17, 2011 at 10:56 pm

August 17, 2011 at 10:57 pm

August 18, 2011 at 9:57 am

August 14, 2011 at 6:23 pm
Wow! Nice going CJ!
August 14, 2011 at 8:50 pm
These are a couple of the final peices. I'm resuming work on the Kitchen project. I'm sending the women to VA beach this weekend so that I can replace the section that has the Kitchen Sink. I wanted a couple days so that the women would not have to deal with the inconvenience and mess and I can focus on the work. Anyone wanting to help, just let me know. LOL
August 14, 2011 at 3:57 pm
ILL HELP WITH THE LADIES GOING TO THE BEACH!!!!!! How is C.J.'s foot?
August 14, 2011 at 4:25 pm
I'll happily go to the beach if you want to fix something at my house! :o)
August 14, 2011 at 4:37 pm
WOW! All those kind offers are overwhelming. Thanks so much. LOL I think the Beach thing is covered, She is taking all her sisters, and they have a Hotel on the beach. CJ is resting quietly on the couch, her foot has been messed up for a couple weeks. It appears to be a sprain.
August 14, 2011 at 4:51 pm
That was still not right how the ladies brought up the beach event on the day before I was leaving! I came all packed for the beach...
August 14, 2011 at 6:24 pm

August 11, 2011 at 11:09 pm
:) heyy you're the one that's always busy in the woodhouse. you missed out I saw CJ and Cindy. Don't worry there will be other times.
August 11, 2011 at 11:18 pm
Yeah, and this last time I had a surprise for someone... But they didn't pick it up. I was upset, but today I sold it for a Nice profit. All I have to do is engrave their name on the wood iPhone cover.
August 11, 2011 at 11:28 pm
:O really. You made one? I thought you said you don't sell what you make?
August 11, 2011 at 11:29 pm
I have sold several things lately, especially pens. They are going for over $100 Each. It is hard to say no, when you need the money.

Spent the last couple of days making a bed for C.J.'s American Girl Doll. I also made one for her friend Shannon's AG Doll as well. CJ made the bedding herself. There are two happy little girls tonight (and 2 happly little AG dolls as well).
July 18, 2011 at 10:33 pm
Your such a good Daddy.
July 18, 2011 at 10:39 pm
Thanks, CJ agreed, but I don't always feel like it.
July 18, 2011 at 10:43 pm
This doll looks alot like CJ but not quite as cute
July 18, 2011 at 10:47 pm
Yes, It is supposed to, we went to the AG store in Boston after the Nationals. They matched it to C.J. hair, eyes, skin complexion, and the glasses. It was a very new edition of the AG doll. It was our reward to CJ for working so hard, and bringing home the Gold.
July 18, 2011 at 10:55 pm
Just beautiful! Her doll's name is Emily, huh! Emi would love that!
July 19, 2011 at 8:44 am
My Granddaughter Lizzie has an AG doll too!! Cool!!!
July 20, 2011 at 3:46 pm
Talk about a tough commute, I have faced about everything, but today was a new way to tie up traffic. It appears that these Geese are thaking their time migrating north. By the time they get there, they will need to turn around and head back south. LOL This is a main intersection about 2 blocks from the house.
July 11, 2011 at 9:11 pm
They have the right of way at a marked crosswalk.
July 11, 2011 at 9:22 pm
That doesn't strike me as odd at all. I mean, Geese are jerks.
But what is "Fo Fitness" reflected in your windshield?
But what is "Fo Fitness" reflected in your windshield?
July 12, 2011 at 12:40 am
"Fo Fitness" is a flyer that was stuck to my windsheild at the commuter lot, and I didn't want to throw on the ground (litter), and hasn't made it to the trash yet.
July 12, 2011 at 2:05 pm
It is difficult to understand how someone could forget their coffee on top of their car. The other stuff, sure, but how can you drive without your coffee???
June 28, 2011 at 12:05 pm
Maybe it was their 4th cup?
June 28, 2011 at 12:59 pm
Omg her purse...
June 28, 2011 at 4:37 pm
Probably on the phone!
June 28, 2011 at 8:01 pm
Ha, Julie! You are probably so right! lol
June 28, 2011 at 8:23 pm
When the guy behind her tried to tell her, she just about ran the light, before he could tell her.
June 28, 2011 at 8:30 pm
What do you think the odds are that she voted for Omoma.
June 28, 2011 at 8:46 pm
Good to see on FB Kim
June 28, 2011 at 8:53 pm
Thanks, Julie - you too! I miss the Potomac Gang!
June 28, 2011 at 8:55 pm
I bet the coffee was the first thing she would have noticed missing, then she would have thought someone stole her purse, then the groceries well if she remembered them at all it would be just short of a miracle. All while talking in her bluetooth onto her iPhone while updating her status on facebook as "to having a wonderful day, people keep honking at me to say Hi!!"
June 29, 2011 at 9:45 am

June 20, 2011 at 11:35 am
Really proud of you CJ! Such a sweet girl...oh yeah, you are a GREAT DAD too Tony! :)
June 21, 2011 at 9:44 am
Dad, Thanks for taking the time to teach me so many things. This was the last time we worked in the wood shop together. I will never forget the last words you said to me "I so proud of you", and I am trying to live up to them. You made all of us feel like we were special, and that is difficult with 6 children. I love and miss you so much.
June 19, 2011 at 10:35 am
Love this pic!
June 19, 2011 at 11:48 am
Truly your daddy was the sweestest man I ever knew.
June 19, 2011 at 11:51 am
I try to make my dad proud too. :)
June 19, 2011 at 12:48 pm
I always enjoyed visiting Uncle Calvin because we got to see the sights, sounds, and smells of his workshop - especially the red cedar shavings.

June 12, 2011 at 5:14 pm

June 12, 2011 at 7:46 pm
Johnathan looks just like you when he was little.
June 16, 2011 at 11:13 pm
This was me when I was 4 and a half years old. My father built this house in London, KY. I loved that fireplace.
June 12, 2011 at 4:09 pm
This was one of my favorite people when i was growing up. She always took the time to listen and showed interest in what you had to say.
June 9, 2011 at 8:56 pm
I am thinking this is a younger Barbara. Am I correct?
June 10, 2011 at 7:33 pm
:-) yes it is Barbara Cox, in 1964.
June 11, 2011 at 7:41 am
Tony, Barbara taught art at South Laurel High School at the time I was teaching there in the business department.
September 19, 2011 at 9:36 pm
Delta Ad placed on the bottom of page that is blasting them for over-charging Soldiers returning from Afghanistan for extra bag. The soldiers were half way home when they told them to come up with the money. Most did not have the funds. Their Colonel used his funds to help those who could not pay.
June 8, 2011 at 5:45 pm
That's really bad
June 8, 2011 at 7:11 pm
Not good publicity for them!
June 9, 2011 at 3:48 pm
This is Ernest Parsley one of the Baldwins. Does anyone recognize these photos?
June 6, 2011 at 9:42 pm
Lloy Baldwin, daughter of Albert Baldwin, my mother's brother. Lloy married Vurl Lakes from McKee area and they live near Cincinnati, OH.
June 7, 2011 at 6:24 am
Thank you. I have a large group of old photos I'm going through, I appreciate the information.
June 7, 2011 at 8:45 am
Tony, Uncle Albert owned the Silver Dollar Lake at Moorse Creek, KY.
June 20, 2011 at 10:58 pm
Ernest Parsely was the son of Alex and Manerva Davis Parsley; nephew of Martha Davis Baldwin. These are pictures from grandma Ellen Davis Morgan's albumn.
September 19, 2011 at 9:23 pm
With all my family thar in Kentucky, can anyone tell me who is in this photo?
June 6, 2011 at 9:35 pm
Need to have Joyce (my sister) and Lowanna (your sister) to look at this. They are enough older than us, they may know them. LOL
June 7, 2011 at 7:14 pm
I have to pick on them both sometimes.
June 7, 2011 at 7:14 pm
Ouch... Lowanna, I didn't have anything to do with that. ... In fact do you know who that was that would say such a thing. LOL Even C.J. said.. ???? who was that?
June 7, 2011 at 7:20 pm
C.J. said it couldn't be Terry, one of his relatives musta slipped on his computer.
June 7, 2011 at 7:22 pm
I believe these are children of John Wesley and Telitha Jane Cook Davis. The names fit and I do know that the first one in the front row is my grandmother, Martha Davis Baldwin.
June 8, 2011 at 4:22 pm
Someone must have hacked my account, Why must they do things like that to such innocent people like me and congressman Weiner.
June 8, 2011 at 7:26 pm
I believe Janice is right annie davidson is my grandmother
June 9, 2011 at 7:04 am
Back row: John Davis, Bob, Willie, Ellen,Charley, Lizzie,?, ?, Front Row: Martha Davis Baldwin, Mary Cook Purkey, Annie Davis Davidson, Nannie King Davis (?)
June 10, 2011 at 8:41 am
This picture is one of my grandma Ellen Davis Morgan's pictures.
August 14, 2011 at 8:51 pm
Who is the man between Uncle John and Uncle Bob? Who are the two men in the back row on the far right?
August 14, 2011 at 8:52 pm
Top shelf of project is ready for sanding and painting. Thank goodness, I don't have to do that part.
June 4, 2011 at 9:11 pm
Making Progress on the Shelf for my friend. The peices are ready for the final trim to size and to be glued and screwed together. This half should be done today.
June 4, 2011 at 12:01 pm
I really admire the work you do. You have such a gift!
June 5, 2011 at 8:22 am
Fun evening, Celibrate end of project... It has been fun, but the heavy rain finally ran us inside. But not before a fine meal, and SMORES for the girls.
May 14, 2011 at 9:32 pm

May 14, 2011 at 9:51 pm
very nice+
May 14, 2011 at 10:17 pm
A couple weeks of hard work. I had special assistance from two of my very good friends, James Corbin and Douglas Ahern... Could not have gott done this week without their help. This Photo is my boss and long time friend Charles Bigelow. Tomorrow morning clean up a few details, and a afternoon inspection.
May 12, 2011 at 10:37 pm
Wow, this is impressive! Great job!
May 12, 2011 at 10:44 pm
Cool. Now you can put some solar panels on your house.
May 12, 2011 at 11:01 pm
3 more payments on the farm and a few large projects and I'll be studying a large solar array for the place. What does this kind of setup cost turnkey? (I can't feed back into the grid in AL).
May 13, 2011 at 8:55 am
$60-80K depending on options - this is a large grid tied system. With battery backup and off grid capability about $80K - it will run your house for 50+ years
May 13, 2011 at 9:44 pm
You probably would not need this large of a system. I don't think you use as much as the average family, for a better idea, you should start watching your meter (or check your bills) and figure out how many Kw hours you are using. Charles can tell you more, I work on the install side and don't worry about the rest.
May 14, 2011 at 9:11 am
Thanks for the advice I guys, I was thinking it would be about 40K for my farm. I'm conservative with AC being the big ticket. Could use more power than currently should we decide to actively irragate.
May 14, 2011 at 5:55 pm
What do you think of it so far? I'm seriously thinking of putting panels on my house and office.
January 3, 2012 at 11:38 pm
Actually this was an install for a customer. The systems work great.
January 4, 2012 at 12:09 am
The cold caused the output to go up on the Petersen job...tripped the 80 amp breaker when the 3600 watt segment hit 4100 watts...cold has its benefits and Solar World modules produce more than their ratings, way more...benefits of made in America by people who care about quality...
January 4, 2012 at 10:16 am
So the cold increased efficiency? I guess that makes sense because electronics tend to work better at lower temperatures...within reason of course...lol. I note that these panels are at a set angle. I've always wondered if the solar panels would produce enough extra energy to pay for a tracking system which should increase efficiency.
January 4, 2012 at 10:33 am
With Berea's new program being such a success, I've been wondering if utilities will soon get on the bandwagon and start installing them in mass because of the efficiency of doing it all in a large project. I know there is a company that's raising money to do this on military bases.
January 4, 2012 at 10:36 am
We use a rack design that my boss developed, and we are in the process of patenting it. You just change it 4 times a year to one of three settings (fall and spring use the same setting).
January 4, 2012 at 12:00 pm
Small systems are much better than large...Germany has millions of small solar systems...they do not require transmission systems upgrades, in fact they alklow for the decommisionning of transmission systems. Point of use power production. A feed in tarriff is what we need. A government policy that would cost the government nothing...let the private sector build it out with private money and blend it into the rate base.
January 4, 2012 at 1:04 pm
A work in progress. And when I say "WORK" I mean it. I just installed the 1st 6 panels of 48, and it is no easy task. But we are making progress. Lotsa fresh air and sunshine. ♥ God is good to allow my sore bones to keep moving. ☺ ☻

May 9, 2011 at 8:42 pm
You know it is time to say a quick prayer when the Radio is on the Emergency Broadcasting system, and they are giving a Tornado warning for the area you are driving through when you top a hill and this appears in front of you. I had just reassured Cindy on the phone that it was clear. Do I call back or snap a photo???
April 27, 2011 at 9:23 pm
The photo is not that good. I guess it never touched the down that I saw, but it did a little north of us in Maryland.
April 27, 2011 at 9:26 pm
Omg! I definetly would have said a prayer n then did a u-turn n got out of there!! Glad u r safe!

Wow, Tony!!
April 28, 2011 at 8:06 am
David, -- Uh... No way. I was looking for a place to hide, when it went out of sight. I have more photos of the inside of the truck than of the cloud. I was amazed that I got the shot, I was shaking and fumbling with the phone. I wouldn't look for them on purpose. It was not good for the Blood Preasure. LOL
April 28, 2011 at 9:31 am
Stay safe, looks like they are back in your neighborhood. Praying for you and yours to remain safe.
April 28, 2011 at 11:35 am

April 28, 2011 at 11:04 pm
Sun burned and too tired to move. Been on a mountain installing a Solar power system. Dug 36 - 3 foot deep holes in a rocky mountain side today. I'm much too old for this kind of work! lol
April 26, 2011 at 9:26 pm
Digging holes 3 ft. deep to put a solar system. Ha, the sun don't shine down thair. You must be installing a geo-thermal system.
April 26, 2011 at 9:43 pm
LOL
April 26, 2011 at 10:01 pm
Beautiful countryside
April 26, 2011 at 10:13 pm

April 26, 2011 at 10:48 pm
That does not sound like fun.
April 26, 2011 at 10:50 pm
Didn't you an I use a power auger to dig fence post holes when we lived in Georgia. Let's see. That was 25 years ago. How old were we then? And I do remember being worn out at the end of the day.
April 26, 2011 at 11:02 pm
Cheryl, that means I must be about 150 years old. Dorsey, yes we were using a power auger, but you know how that is with rocky soil.
April 27, 2011 at 8:05 am
The work and exercise will keep you young!
April 27, 2011 at 8:33 pm
I guess... if it don't kill ya.
April 27, 2011 at 8:39 pm
Cutting Steel for the Solar system install next week. I am on my third ton. I have to drill holes in the ends and then prime and Paint them before Monday morning. I'm making progress thanks to the fine 80 degree weather. We were supposed to have rain, and it is probably coming, so I had better get back to work.
April 20, 2011 at 5:15 pm
We are in Richmond, and the Hotel said that the event room was going to be noisey until very late, so they would like to give us an upgrade to get us away from the noise. I agreed and WOW!!! it is a nice upgrade.
April 8, 2011 at 10:11 pm
We ran over to the grocery store and when we got to the cash register, they gave us 25% off of the purchase. So it this is any indication of the rest of this trip.... WOOPEEE!!!

Status update kitchen remodel -- Finally finished the small base that will go next to the stove.
March 5, 2011 at 11:46 pm
This is the next base Cabinet, the thing about cabinets, Making a small one takes about as much time as the large ones. This will have a pull-out instead of a door, but it will look like a door. So far I am on budget, to complete for about $1500.00 instead of the $15,000 estamated by the contractor.
March 4, 2011 at 10:28 pm
You are so talented.
March 7, 2011 at 12:55 am
Status update -- Kitchen remodel project... Just completed upper another Upper Cabinet. Moving slow but steady. C.J is modeling the newest cabinet.

February 20, 2011 at 11:24 pm
You're building them yourself? Cool!
February 23, 2011 at 9:08 am
Imagine you are working in your wood shop and suddenly you are hit in the face with a force that makes you think you have been shot. You don't know what happened for a minute or so, then you realize you can't see out your right eye. I cannot stress how important safety equipment is, but if not for safety glasses, I would be on my way to the local hospital... in a lot of pain. I think I'll call it a night. My nerves are shot. lol
February 13, 2011 at 8:27 pm
WOW! Tony the Lord was looking out for you! TIme to take a break!
February 13, 2011 at 8:34 pm
I am really thankful.
February 13, 2011 at 8:36 pm
Bless your heart!
February 13, 2011 at 8:40 pm
OMG. Thank God you had those on!
February 13, 2011 at 8:43 pm
Omg! So glad you had your safety glasses on!
February 13, 2011 at 8:51 pm
OMG!! You are so lucky!!!
February 13, 2011 at 9:17 pm
DANG!! it made a dent in the goggles. Is that a piece of wood?
February 13, 2011 at 9:20 pm
Wow your are lucky v
February 13, 2011 at 9:27 pm
Take it from me you dont realize how important your eyes are till you lose one
February 13, 2011 at 9:29 pm
Yes that is a peice of a knot in the wood. They are very hard and brittle. The rest of it sprayed me and the room. I have been saved from injuries by safety equipment before, but I think this would have been very bad. Can you imagine what it would have been like to have that peice of wood bouncing around in my empty head?
February 13, 2011 at 9:39 pm
Lucky for you that your a Davis it would take more than a not to get through our head
February 13, 2011 at 9:42 pm
Yea, when I came back to the house, Cindy began picking peices of wood out of my forehead, and asked what happened. I told her I had ruined a good pair of safety glasses. She asked if they were the ones she and CJ gave me for Christmas. lol
February 13, 2011 at 9:50 pm
Wow, I bet that really jangled your nerves. Glad you're okay, and thanks for wearing your safety goggles and sharing the story!
February 13, 2011 at 10:26 pm
I hate safety glasses but you have about made a believer out of me. First time I have seen a knot kicked out by a saw blade like that. God looks after us, doesn't he.
February 13, 2011 at 10:28 pm
Dad always made me wear the safety glasses, and the military always made us wear safety equipment, so it became a habit. I have had a couple less dramatic close calls, but this one drove the point home (no pun intended). I thank God for watching over me.
Dorsey, this is the first time I have had the table saw throw a chunk at me, maybe a shaper or router would have been more likely.
AL, - It really frayed my nerves, even more once I had a little time to think about it.

Next time duck!
February 13, 2011 at 10:51 pm
All jokes aside since I lost my eye you take better care of what you have left, thankfuly you learned precaution is pretty good medicine. Tell CJ to get you another pair of glasses so we can keep watching her model your new cabinets
February 13, 2011 at 10:55 pm
I have a bunch of them, but I used those because theyfit over my reading glasses.
Sallie ... I'm just getting too old to move that fast, so I had to cover instead of duck. lol

February 13, 2011 at 11:02 pm
Whoo! :) Love you so much, thank you for wearing those goggles!
I always wear my safety goggles when little bits and things and flying around, and it's saved my left eye before. So, at least one pair of Davis eyes has been spared.

February 13, 2011 at 3:14 pm
You haven't lost your touch when it comes to woodworking. I really enjoyed woodworking but I can't do everything and photography is my real passion.
February 13, 2011 at 3:55 pm
Thanks for the nice comments, I truly enjoy hearing them, but the most rewarding thing was my wifes response. It was great to see the sparkle in her eyes. Dorsey, if I was as good with the camera as you, I think I would be at it all the time. Your photos are amazing.
February 13, 2011 at 4:12 pm
Wow! You flatter me.
February 13, 2011 at 4:19 pm
Beautiful!

Thanks, tell him Tony and C.J. says Hi!
February 8, 2011 at 8:33 pm
Looks like you've gone in your daddy's footsteps in a way I know makes him (in heaven) proud.
February 9, 2011 at 3:19 pm
Wonderful! You're hired!
August 22, 2011 at 9:38 am
Now I have it together, it is time for the finishing. It is the part I like the least.
February 8, 2011 at 11:11 am
Status update on 1st cabinet. I still need to complete the Drawer face. everything else is built. Once I have completed the face, I will need to stain and apply the finish. It is getting close to being done.
February 7, 2011 at 9:08 pm
1st set of doors for the Kitchen cabinet. I have the second set just about ready. I had to get a set "dry fit" to ensure my measurements were correct.
February 5, 2011 at 12:10 pm
Beautiful work wished you was close be to help my kitchen out.
February 5, 2011 at 12:20 pm
Me too, it would mean I was close to my Mom and family. : )
February 5, 2011 at 12:25 pm
Nice work! I also wish you and Cindy and CJ lived close to your MOM. We could see you more often.
February 5, 2011 at 12:54 pm
Two down. And how many to go.
February 5, 2011 at 4:42 pm
I WISH YOU LIVED CLOSER TO YOUR OLDER SISTER
February 5, 2011 at 4:50 pm
I see you got ttalent from your Dad and Uncle Wes. Looks good.

February 3, 2011 at 11:10 pm
Cabinet project progress report. Face installed. Ready to begin doors.
February 3, 2011 at 11:08 pm
you can ship it to me when you are finished. It is going to be beautiful.
February 3, 2011 at 11:10 pm
I am making them old style, so they will be very heavy. Shipping might cost more than they are worth. lol
February 3, 2011 at 11:22 pm
You do beautiful work. We miss you!
February 4, 2011 at 1:12 am
I thought it was a coffin
February 4, 2011 at 9:13 am
It may become one if I don't get my wife's kitchen done. Lol.
February 4, 2011 at 11:25 am
lol
February 4, 2011 at 7:44 pm
Progress on Kitchen Cabinet. This is the frame, this will be fore the microwave.
February 1, 2011 at 11:11 pm
wow that's tall. Looks good.
February 2, 2011 at 11:50 am
I have been playing with my laser, and created this tile. I was thinking of using it somehwhere in the kitchen.
January 24, 2011 at 11:06 pm
awww that's very cute!
January 24, 2011 at 11:13 pm
put it right in the center of the kitchen floor
January 24, 2011 at 11:14 pm
That's very cute! I agree should go in the center of the floor.
January 24, 2011 at 11:21 pm
VERY NICE! Place it where the kitchen feels warmest, just like your heart!
January 24, 2011 at 11:24 pm
Too cool. A guy needs to have his toys :)
January 24, 2011 at 11:35 pm
I made a bit more progress. It is amazing what you can get done when you have some alone time.
January 24, 2011 at 10:48 pm
Very nice! :D
January 25, 2011 at 8:58 pm
Well the best laid plans of mice and men..... I had hoped to have the floor tile down, but other issues, and heavy traffic has slowed the progress. It is amazing how a few extra curious kids in the house can slow construction. (No futher comment on kids and tile cement).
January 23, 2011 at 11:25 pm
Would be funny if you could get them to stand still for a bit. Lol!
January 23, 2011 at 11:38 pm
Hey I haven't had a chance to look up chess boards with drawers, just go ahead and b your creative self. I am buying chess pieces of the midevil time period, I love the whole knights and dragons theme, if that helps give you any ideas. Let me know. Thanks uncle T. :-)
January 23, 2011 at 11:44 pm
More progress, just started the tiles. I hope to have most of them down tomorrow. I cut and laid the cement board last night and today. There is a lot of prep work and fitting in order to make sure everything lines up. I could go faster, but I have to look at it for the next however long....
January 21, 2011 at 10:36 pm
It's looking real good. :) And I'd expect no less than the best from ya!
January 21, 2011 at 11:20 pm
I am still working on the kitchen floor, making progress. I gotta get this done. I'm not allowed to play in my dog house until I get the kitchen done (except to work on the new kitchen cabinets).
January 19, 2011 at 11:14 pm
Whoo, boy, and I remember how much Cindy chewed me out when I spilled a couple drops of pop on the carpet... can't imagine what you're going through.
January 20, 2011 at 12:00 am
Wish I could be there to help, I know my dog house has been cold
January 20, 2011 at 3:06 am
I was wondering where you've been! lol
January 20, 2011 at 6:57 am
I have a pellet stove in my dog house. But if I don't get the kitchen done, it may be very cold. She is counting form when we moved in the house, and I was counting from the last project. That means we are about 5 years difference in our timelines. Guess who is always right. LOL
January 20, 2011 at 10:23 am
I only wish I had your skills. You've done more to improve your house this year then most of will do in 10, maybe 20 if we go by me.
January 20, 2011 at 10:24 pm
Wow uncle tony looks like the princess blanket didn't work. I am sure you will have the floor looking beautiful in no time.
January 21, 2011 at 9:08 pm
I have had a stressful week and a more stressful day. So this evening when I got home, I needed some "woodshop time". I have been thinking about making a ornate clock, so this is what I came up with. I still need to put a finish on it. But the design, cutting and assembly is done.
January 14, 2011 at 11:33 pm
That's awsome I wish I was a tenth of the craftsman and artist you are. I do have some of the creativity but its hard not to when your offspring of pappaw's. What would you think about making me a chess board with a cabinet underneath it with a pull out drawer to put the pieces in? If your bored and find yourself needing an idea for "shop time" lol! I want to do it my self but time is an issue and I would have done it while I was off but the lack of proper tools and a heated shop to do it in kinda hindered the process. If you do decide to take on the project keep a tab and let me know what I owe you & I do kinda have an idea of a design I would like to relate to you but you let your creativity go with it. Let me know. Thanks uncle T :-)
January 14, 2011 at 11:55 pm
Well, actually I've been wanting to do one. The last one I made was for High School Shop class. I was going to make one for CJ, but she got an amazing set and board at Christmas. Let me know what you have in mind.
January 15, 2011 at 12:03 am
Sweet, I will send ya some pics and drawings on you oldman email
January 15, 2011 at 12:11 am
Wow that is a nice looking design. Did you read that question I posted on your wall?
January 15, 2011 at 12:28 am
Beautiful Tony. You could make money with your woodshop skills!
January 15, 2011 at 9:04 am
Look what I did to the kitchen floor. If you don't hear from me after this evening (when Cindy gets home), you will know it did not go well. There is a little over 2.5 acers in back, and it may take a while to find my body. I probably should have ask her first. Too late now.... lol
January 12, 2011 at 2:47 pm
It might be easier to find you if you wear a metal watch. Good Luck - Ha.
January 12, 2011 at 2:57 pm
Since her parents gave it to me, and it is a Rolex, it'll probably be used to hire someone to repair the floor. lol
January 12, 2011 at 3:06 pm
By looking at your photos on many projects you have done, you will probably be fine.
January 12, 2011 at 3:15 pm
Is it too soon to send flowers.
January 12, 2011 at 5:54 pm
Fortunately CJ has tap class tonight, and her Mom is meeting us over there. That'll buy me a couple more hours. Lol
January 12, 2011 at 6:04 pm
Use that time wisely. Check to make sure your life insurance is payed up in full.
January 12, 2011 at 6:07 pm
Tony tony tony! What were you thinking?
January 12, 2011 at 7:56 pm
Maby you can toss a throw rug over it and she won't notice for a while. Just a thought.
January 12, 2011 at 7:58 pm
Looks like you have too much time on your hands to get in trouble!! Good luck!
January 12, 2011 at 7:58 pm
Tearing up the floor isnt the problem. Its how long it looks that way. I can see from the bottom layer that Gill should of been an interior designer..
January 12, 2011 at 8:13 pm
I was just thinking that a man with a lot of power tools shouldn't be left alone too long. lol Well Cindy should be home in about an hour. I am thinking about finding a hiding place. My dad used to say "A hiding place is going to be worth a dollar a minute" (and that was when a dollar was worth something.
January 12, 2011 at 8:40 pm
You are in trouble.....!
January 12, 2011 at 8:46 pm
Problem solved, see new photo.
January 12, 2011 at 9:01 pm
Dear Santa, I'm CJ's dad. I want an eReader, Android 2.1 platform that has WiFi: 802.11 a/b/g, Resistive Touch Screen(Support Double Touch), Mini USB 2.0 port, Built-in Speaker, G-sensor, 1080P Full HD Support. I've been pretty good.
December 19, 2010 at 9:39 pm
Why don't you just ask for an IPhone 4.
December 19, 2010 at 9:45 pm
2 things, 1 - Currently the provider is ATT, and I don't get reception at my house on their system, 2 I don't want to follow the crowd, remember I'm a Geek, Apple is for those that don't want a challange.
December 19, 2010 at 10:19 pm
Aha ic. iPhone is a geeks phone. U can jailbreak it and do all this cool stuff.
December 19, 2010 at 10:30 pm
CJ's 4th Grade picture came today.
November 3, 2010 at 7:53 pm

November 3, 2010 at 9:01 pm
Where does the time go? Wasn't the some baby involved?
November 3, 2010 at 10:00 pm
Great picture. Tell CJ hey for me.
November 3, 2010 at 10:51 pm
Wow. And to think, in 6 years, she'll be as old as I was when she was brand new to the world. And I thought I'd seen everything back then.
I'm incredibly proud of her. She's already far exceeded my lofty expectations of her.
I'm incredibly proud of her. She's already far exceeded my lofty expectations of her.
November 4, 2010 at 6:57 am
You have good reason to be proud of her. She a fine youngin.
November 4, 2010 at 4:43 pm
Your little one is growing uip. How are you doing?
November 4, 2010 at 10:03 pm

We miss you too!
November 5, 2010 at 7:59 am
Guess who is driving CJ's Go-Kart now?!?
October 10, 2010 at 6:39 pm
I love it!
October 10, 2010 at 8:39 pm
Twas the night before 4th Grade, and all through the house all the creatures were stirring, except one little mouse....but she was excited.....
September 6, 2010 at 10:09 pm
Wow 4th grade already? CJ is growing up fast.
September 6, 2010 at 11:57 pm
Yep!!! Next thing you know she will be wanting the car keys. lol
September 7, 2010 at 9:18 am
Which will go well until she backs into the little green cable utility access node thing. And then it's back to not driving for a while.
September 7, 2010 at 10:50 am
Ha ha, the one here is between a telephone ploe and a fire hydrant.
September 7, 2010 at 12:17 pm
Never underestimate the disasters that a teenager can cause!
September 7, 2010 at 12:24 pm
Thanks, the bed was on of my projects made from the scrap wood from the Airlines freight office. So is the desk underneith.
September 7, 2010 at 8:05 pm
I sometimes wonder if you could take any wood anywhere and turn it into a masterpiece.
And then I remember that I *KNOW* you could. :)
And then I remember that I *KNOW* you could. :)
September 7, 2010 at 8:07 pm
I was wondering around down here in Kentucky and I stopped to ask some fine people where I was, they looked at me kind of strange, like I was lost, and then told me Don't you man, this IS God's Country!!!
August 30, 2010 at 11:42 pm
Be careful what you believe. They both look like they are FULL of mischief!!!
August 31, 2010 at 9:37 am
I know what you mean, I will be careful with these two. They look like they could be fun to hang out with, I have enough Davis in me to enjoy a little mischief.
August 31, 2010 at 10:04 am
I guess they told you
August 31, 2010 at 10:33 am
A belated very Happy Birthday to you, Tony
August 31, 2010 at 9:16 pm
Can you believe my brother put my 82 year old mother to work planting tomatoes in the garden. On top of that she was smilling while she worked.
June 19, 2010 at 9:38 pm
Must have threatened her. Wait until Lownnia finds out about this.
June 19, 2010 at 10:02 pm
When Lowanna found out she ran up thereto skin him, she called me to tell me as well. When she got there, she found mom was in good sprits about it, and didn't hurt him... This time..lol.
June 19, 2010 at 10:05 pm
Mamau looks great!
June 19, 2010 at 10:22 pm
That's that economy for you. Even Grandma can't escape workin'. :)
June 19, 2010 at 10:25 pm
Good for her being able to still plant in the garden...I hope I still can when I'm that age!
June 19, 2010 at 10:27 pm

June 19, 2010 at 10:29 pm

June 20, 2010 at 9:38 am

Aaawww...thats so sweet of him
June 20, 2010 at 5:36 pm
OK, I was reading this article today, and it said "you are what you eat." Now that explains a lot. I was looking in the mirror, and I seem to have enjoyed a little too much of my wife's cooking. lol
June 10, 2010 at 10:32 pm
We can't stop laughing, that was a good come back.
June 10, 2010 at 10:58 pm
I can still see the Kentucky tshirt... Some genes die hard lol
June 11, 2010 at 9:21 pm
Oh... So you can see that I am still a Kentuckian on the inside... You can take the Boy out of the country, but you can't take the Kentucky out of the old man. lol
June 11, 2010 at 9:32 pm
Amen brother Tony. Kentucky goes all the way to the bone. Normally it is a trait passed on to the next generations though.
June 11, 2010 at 10:17 pm
I'm enjoying a PEPPER-oni pizza, I wonder if that means I'm German. :P
June 13, 2010 at 4:50 pm
OK check out my wife's page, you will see this photo there. The girls were whining about being hungry, a this is what was provided.
May 28, 2010 at 10:31 pm
Life is GOOD!!! I have a full belly, and it was a taste of Home sweet home Kentucky. If you are wondering what I am talking about.... I just cut my first batch of bib lettuce, Radishes, and green onions. Add some Hot Bacon grease, A fresh batch of Corn bread, and eat until you are stuffed. :-)
May 26, 2010 at 7:07 pm
Proof. You can take the boy out of kentucky but you cant't take the Kentucky out of the boy.
May 26, 2010 at 7:19 pm
Sounds good to me!!
May 26, 2010 at 7:29 pm
Goin to have our first batch when I get home this weekend, so don't be felling all privilaged there uncle T
May 26, 2010 at 7:33 pm
Kentucky Born, and proud of it. :-), The giys that work with me always laugh when I say "I may be an old country boy from Kentucky, but..." because they know that someone is about to get it. lol So I wouldn't want them to take the Kentucky out of this boy.
May 26, 2010 at 7:36 pm
Well Jason, I'm happy for you, but I can't help but feel privilaged. I guess I kinda think "A bowl of lettice in the belly is better than a bowl that gonna be this weekend." lol Hope you enjoy your as much as I enjoyed mine.
May 26, 2010 at 7:41 pm
Don't make me be bustin out the "O" word on you cuz you know ill go there. LOL
May 26, 2010 at 7:44 pm
The last election gave us enough "O" words to last a life time. I think we had better leave that alone. lol
May 26, 2010 at 7:46 pm
Totally agree. The damage that "O" is doing will last a life time...our children's and grandchildren's lifetimes!
May 26, 2010 at 8:22 pm
yum
May 26, 2010 at 8:50 pm
have lettuce almost ready looks like you beat me
May 26, 2010 at 9:19 pm
It was slow at first, but the last week of rain and warm sunshine, made it jump. And I was watching it closely, and jumped as soon as it was ready. God must have known how badly I needed a taste of home.
May 26, 2010 at 9:30 pm
Your mama's recipe is fresh in my head, but mine is never as good as what I had in Ohio! That recipe is a wonderful memory.
May 26, 2010 at 10:01 pm
Joyous!
May 26, 2010 at 10:45 pm
I was thinking along the lines of "Old Man" I would never call anyone obama that is uncalled for and not "PC" at all. I have more respect for myself and others than to call even my worst enemy obama!
May 26, 2010 at 10:56 pm
I know, but I can't resist a chance to pick at you.
May 27, 2010 at 3:54 pm
I remember Granny Gaines fixing this for us. Loved it!!!
January 23, 2011 at 7:58 pm
Ialways loved going to Aunt Mae's, she was always so much fun. But what I remember most about her is how she always had the most beautiful flowers.
January 23, 2011 at 9:10 pm
Yum!
January 24, 2011 at 8:46 am
Needs some spring onions now!
January 26, 2011 at 7:53 pm
Nope! It growed out back... (on some farm).
January 30, 2011 at 7:34 pm
lol
January 30, 2011 at 7:38 pm
This is a picture taken August 13, 1929 at the Davis Family Homecoming. If you remember this, you've been around a while.
May 15, 2010 at 1:00 pm
Does any one on facebook right now remember this?
May 15, 2010 at 4:06 pm
I doubt it, if they are old enought to have been there, they probably don't remember much. lol I'm only 52, and I am already having trouble remembering things.
May 15, 2010 at 4:15 pm
Was this picture taken up on Moores Creek. Gosh the place sure has changed.
May 15, 2010 at 7:43 pm
I'm not sure, I wasn't there, and there is nothing on the photo to say where.
May 15, 2010 at 7:45 pm
I'll have to get Joyce to look at it, she is a bit older than me, maby she can remember. You might show it to Lowana.LOL
May 15, 2010 at 7:52 pm
I'm not going to tell her you said that. lol
May 15, 2010 at 8:26 pm
Tony, this is a great find! Was this Uncle Bob and Aunt Bessie's house??
November 5, 2011 at 9:33 am
I'm not sure. It was among a bunch of old photos.
November 5, 2011 at 9:38 am
I love all these old photos!

May 8, 2010 at 10:29 am
She's so pretty, and that's a really really cute outfit. She looks so grown up.
May 8, 2010 at 10:37 am
Agh! Thanks for reminding me how much older she's gotten, and by extension, how much older I'm getting! :P
She's still incredibly cute.
She's still incredibly cute.
May 8, 2010 at 6:32 pm
Well if that's what reminds you, you are still young. The mirroe reminds me every day when I shave.
May 8, 2010 at 8:05 pm
Ha ha ha, touche. :P It's still crazy to think back to when she was born and I was 16, thinking I was at the apex of my existence (nice car, good school, great friends and a cool dad everyone's jealous of).
I don't have the car anymore, but I still have the other three.
I don't have the car anymore, but I still have the other three.
May 8, 2010 at 8:10 pm
Joshua said she's pretty, and I agree.
May 9, 2010 at 2:50 pm
Which pinky is crooked by the way? I had a friend who was an RN and her maiden name was Davis and her people migrated from Kentucky to Macon. She has that crooked pinky too!
May 9, 2010 at 5:17 pm
Either hand, or both.
May 9, 2010 at 8:59 pm
She is beautiful. shame we have never seen her. You ewally should bring your family to the Davis reunion. My grandson, Wesley, has those flexible Davis fingers. We had A show and tell with some of the other family members at reunion. I*m sure your sister can tell you when and where to go.
May 10, 2010 at 2:44 pm
I would love to attend, but the weekend of the reunion is always the end of the first week of school here in Virginia, and we would have to pull her from school for a couple of days to make the trip. It is hard, but we will try.
May 10, 2010 at 8:58 pm
Ii just love her So ... Hug her for mr!
May 11, 2010 at 1:27 pm
I am only speaking for myself you know, But we just might be able to do a little adjusting on the date of the reunion to help meet with your schedual. Mention it to your sister. For most around here anyway our schedual are quiet flexable.
May 11, 2010 at 7:54 pm
Send me a few of this!!
May 15, 2010 at 8:50 pm
This is one of my Grand Parents on Mom's side. Grandma and Grandpa Hillard. Their 50th anniversary at my Uncle Ray's house.
April 27, 2010 at 9:49 pm
Your grandmother was a beautiful soul! I still see Amie in the pics when she lived in Lowanna's walk out apt.
April 28, 2010 at 7:49 am
I've been looking at old pictures tonight. Thinking about family and I am feeling very blessed. This is my father in his shop.
April 27, 2010 at 9:45 pm
I can see you in this picture...like Father like Son
April 27, 2010 at 10:13 pm
Thank you, I am very proud of my Dad.
April 27, 2010 at 10:28 pm
Thats great Tony, Is your Dad still active with woodworking?
April 28, 2010 at 6:33 am
That's a great pic Tony. I tell people about my kid's granddad that created all those unique signs for the National Parks. They are so impressed. I know you miss him terrible.
April 28, 2010 at 7:44 am
That is great Tony. He was a great guy!

It is good to pull out the old photos and just let them take you back. Brings back a lot of old memories.
April 28, 2010 at 7:07 pm
It has been a little over 14 years since he passed, and I still get choked up when I think about him. The last thing he said to me was that he was proud of me. I still miss him so much. Working in my wood shop make me feel closer to him. I know too much mush.
April 28, 2010 at 7:40 pm
That's a sign that you were and did truly love each other. Memories are great and something you cann't take away. I miss my parents every day.
April 28, 2010 at 8:29 pm
Sorry Tony, I did not you had lost him. Keep working in that wood shop if it keeps you closer to him. Never enough mush....it's cool you love him like you do....it's rare these days.... I lost my dad 9 years ago, I think about him every day......he is missed.
April 28, 2010 at 8:41 pm
Thanks I appreciate the kind remarks. Rita, I think of your Dad often as well. He had a big influence on the person I am today. I'm sure you hear that very often. Because he was a great man, and I rarely say that about anyone.
April 28, 2010 at 9:28 pm
Thanks Tony.
April 28, 2010 at 10:18 pm
Tony, some neat peices. That's a good picture of you dad. He was a talented man with a great sense of humor.
May 1, 2010 at 11:04 am
I wonder what he'd make of your shop today. I'm certain he'd be impressed beyond belief. Just thinking about seeing him watching to computer controlled stuff, I can HEAR him make an impressed whistle real loud.
May 1, 2010 at 6:00 pm
Thinking of you in the church service today. The Pastor was talking about being in a rock band that opened for Lynyrd Skynyrd years ago. He started talking about how prideful he was in himself. His mom always prayed him. Does that sound familiar? I remember you shaking your head when my mom told you someday her husband and all the kids would come to Christ.

It only goes to show the power of FAITH, she had more than anyone I have ever met. She was amazingly intutive, patient, and long suffering. I couldn't imagine what she was saying, but I now can not imagine it any other way. Matt 17:20 ... If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
May 2, 2010 at 1:56 pm
The Pastor referenced that scripture this morning.

Well another week begins. Most of you probably already know that C.J. took Gold again this weekend in the area Quiz meet and qualified to go to the State level quiz meet next month. Here we go again. I’ll be biting my nails through the 2 hour meet. I get more nervous that she does, and I’m sure there’ll be more Trophies this year.
March 22, 2010 at 9:18 pm
Does she have a trophy case yet? looks like you might want to make a big one!
March 22, 2010 at 9:29 pm

March 22, 2010 at 10:49 pm
The only thing aged in that photo is your shirt, dad! I think I remember you wearing that thing back when I was in Middle School.
September 7, 2010 at 12:32 pm
Thanks for pointing that out. You are probably correct.
September 7, 2010 at 12:34 pm
Great photo Tony. Don't know how I missed it before.
January 5, 2011 at 10:19 pm
Just lucky I guess.
January 5, 2011 at 10:35 pm
Spending time visiting with my cousin from Kentucky. He's on his way to NC. Then on to ole Kentucky on Thursday. He says he is my cousin, I picked him up at the truck rest area (this is the first time we ever had a chance to talk). I took a picture of him and CJ. Can anyone identify my cousin?
March 16, 2010 at 8:24 pm
hey he looks familiar! he looks a lot like his dad and I believe his name is John! Glad you all are getting a chance to visit!
March 17, 2010 at 8:28 pm
Yep, and you see the base of the chair in the background on the right. If I had finished it, he could have brought it to Ethan. Maybe the next time he comes through it will be finished. I am still making progress. I'll update it this weekend.
March 17, 2010 at 9:12 pm
yep I saw little man's chair! It looks so cute! Looks like you have a nice little workshop as well.
March 17, 2010 at 10:43 pm
oh and I never thought about having John deliver the chair that's a good idea. I hope I get to see my Uncle Tony and Aunt Cindy and cuz CJ soon as well
March 17, 2010 at 10:48 pm
I think John looks like his Grandpa Wesley. It is a great picture of the cousins.
June 12, 2011 at 9:56 pm
I think he loooks like Elmer L,_ee
June 13, 2011 at 12:06 am
Progress report. I have now cut out and assembled the arms. The compoients for the seat portion is ready for sanding and assembley. Nest portion is the Base.
March 9, 2010 at 9:41 pm
This will be a nice piece. What kind of wood? Looks like maple in the pic.
March 9, 2010 at 10:59 pm
It is Cherry. Some of the lumber Dad carried up from Moores Creek, and had planned on using when he retired. I figure I had better use it before I retire so that I can enjoy it.
March 9, 2010 at 11:03 pm
oo what is that?.. looks like a thrown for the toilet seat.
March 9, 2010 at 11:44 pm
Well it is clear you haven't been following the progress. lol
March 10, 2010 at 4:14 pm
You are tooooo talented Tony
March 10, 2010 at 4:52 pm
I have started my next project. It is a chair for Ethan (laughing baby in the video on my page). Here is the picture I am working to reproduce. I'll post some photos as it progresses.
March 6, 2010 at 4:41 pm
Looks like a beautiful Chair~
March 6, 2010 at 9:05 pm
Aaawwww.....Ethan and I am so excited! Ethan just doesn't know that he is excited yet
March 6, 2010 at 9:27 pm
The top of the back is the hardest part. I spent most of the day creating a jig to use to cut the curve of the back. That's why this one is going to be fun, it has some interesting challenges to make it turn out right.
March 6, 2010 at 9:38 pm
I have shown this pic to Aunt Lowana, mom, and Dad. They all said that it was beautiful and looked like À challenge. But they all said that u could do it!
March 6, 2010 at 10:50 pm
Aunt lowana said u like a challenge
March 6, 2010 at 10:51 pm
Tony, You always could tackle any project you set your mind to. Looks like a neat chair.
March 10, 2010 at 5:59 pm
OK, I have just made another pen, but I am not sure if it it looks like a piece of art, or if it is just UGLY. I kind of like it, but I may be wrong. Tell me what you think. Please be honest and tell the Truth. This has a Composite Acrylic top and an Ebony Wood bottom.
March 2, 2010 at 9:02 pm
Looooove it!!!! It is so beatiful. : )
March 2, 2010 at 9:27 pm
hm... those little yellow circles look like tiny cells under a microscope. looks interesting. You need to make one of those noveau sceptre pens.
March 2, 2010 at 10:03 pm

that one looks soooo gorgeous!!
March 2, 2010 at 10:08 pm
OK, so you think it is Ugly...
March 2, 2010 at 10:16 pm
Very different. Pretty!
March 2, 2010 at 10:36 pm
No no Tony. Nothing of yours is ugly!! I like all your work. I'm just giving a suggestion that you should make a noveau pen cause I like it :D
March 2, 2010 at 10:39 pm
Don't you call that work of art ugly!
March 2, 2010 at 11:47 pm
Wow, that would be an awesome pen for a cell biologist or a lab tech.
March 3, 2010 at 2:12 am
This of course looks gorgeous, no word to mention as you always do.
March 3, 2010 at 10:56 am
It's pretty... I'm just saying.

February 13, 2010 at 8:35 pm

February 13, 2010 at 9:35 pm
Very talented, Tony.
February 13, 2010 at 9:38 pm
is that black one a water bufflo's horn?
February 13, 2010 at 9:45 pm
The black one is Ebony from Africa.
February 13, 2010 at 9:53 pm
I show off the pen that you made me to everyone I know. =o)))
February 14, 2010 at 4:28 pm
Actual Ebony, not Ebonite? Niiiice.
February 17, 2010 at 3:57 am
It is the real wood from Africa.
February 17, 2010 at 9:42 am
Little CJ has been up since 5AM, and was waiting quietly by the tree until everyone was up and ready to open presents. She was so excited, but did not say a word. I was proud of her behavior. Santa was very good to her this year.
December 25, 2009 at 9:44 am
Joshua did the same thing, he saw that Santa came and went back to sleep until after 9. We were very happy to know he is growing up to be a fine young man.
December 26, 2009 at 10:30 am
She is so well behaved!
December 28, 2009 at 4:43 pm
I was SNOW inspired by the snow, that started a new project, and here is the finished product. For the Christmas tree, I guess I'll give them to the ladies baking cookies.
December 5, 2009 at 9:11 pm
Snow is our friend... At least it keeps it quiet in my "Dog House", It is the green building on the left. The wife and her sisters et.al. are baking cookies, and the Estrogen level in the house is too high for an old man.
December 5, 2009 at 8:08 pm
Peaceful!
December 5, 2009 at 8:52 pm
Yes, I now understand my father's love of his little workshop there in Pittsburg. I guess it is in my blood.
December 5, 2009 at 9:19 pm
aww why are you isolating yourself from the ladies. Go learn how to bake cookies.
December 5, 2009 at 10:46 pm
I can bake cookies, or cook about anything. But women need some bonding time, and that's where I draw the line.
December 5, 2009 at 11:03 pm
Bourbon is your friend.
December 5, 2009 at 11:05 pm
Definately beats making cookies, but might not go to well with the power tools.
December 5, 2009 at 11:10 pm
More Carving, this time it is a request from Hue, I did the best I could in a couple days.
December 1, 2009 at 10:05 pm
Wow, Tony. I didn't know you were so talented! Nice work.
December 1, 2009 at 11:21 pm
:D sooo coooll!!!!
December 2, 2009 at 12:03 am
Not so much tallent as good tools. But thanks, I will keep trying.
December 5, 2009 at 8:10 pm
My heart is broken, and I don't know how to express the feeling of loss I feel today. I received a call this morning that a dear friend and wonderful person had just passed away.
October 23, 2009 at 11:36 am
Tony, I am really sorry, I could hear how upset you were earlier tonight. You are in my prayers. I love you!
